The King Of The Internet Talks About Broadway, Equality, And Democracy

Oh Myyy.  It's the King!
We first met him in the 60s in Star Trek.  Mr. Sulu, the swashbuckling helmsman of the Enterprise.  George Takei made his career out of that role.  Like Nichelle Nichols and Uhura, here was a role that was not typecast--previously, the only roles for Asian-Americans were either as villains or servants.  Witness Bruce Lee's role as Kato in The Green Hornet.

But in his later years, he has become not only an activist, but a social media icon.  In fact, one could say that he has indeed become, as my title suggests, the "King of the Internet".

I'm not going to link to the site to buy his book where he talks about it, but I AM going to show you a TED talk he gave on Broadway about social media as it relates to Broadway.

But it's so much more than that.  In the talk, he mentions the key point about American Democracy--that it depends on good people voting and participating.

Trust me--it's a 15 minutes you won't regret spending.
