So goes one of the most powerful lines from the trailer to the upcoming movie "Suffragette", out this October in theaters.
There is a deep profundity in that statement.
We like to think we have moved past this, as evidenced by the non violent philosophy of Gandhi and MLK, but one thing will never change--the behavior of the other side.
And if we want our movement to succeed--for voting rights, women's rights, racial equality, gender equality, economic equality, and so on, we must always remember that the other side IS at war with us and will not hesitate to use force to eliminate us.
The movie "Suffragette" shows us this war up close. This is not the sanitized Mary Poppins version of the British Suffragette movement, either.
This movie should be required viewing for all.
