I was just watching This Week. George Stephanopolous was interviewing the President and brought up all the criticism of the Syria situation--the bumbling, the Putin, all of it. The President's response was classic: To paraphrase, he said that if he had done a "linear disciplined" program that was clear, all the pundits would have praised him, even if it was a horrible plan, which they did with Iraq. He said he was more concerned with the end result and not with the "style points". He concluded with the fact that he wanted the chemical weapons acknowledged, he wanted Syria to acknowledge them, he wanted Russia involved and pressuring Syria, he basically said he got what he wanted, so he did everything right.
On the domestic front, George brought up the whole debt ceiling and CR issues. The President's response: "Pound Sand".
And Amash was trying to be all "sensible" by saying that "compromise has to start with a Republican proposal" which is to "delay Obamacare for a year".
Again, as the President said, "Pound sand". this President is on the way to irrelevancy" by comparing him to Bush at this time in his presidency, which was why there's all this 2016 talk, and George was happily helping him. But Cokie Roberts and Paul Gigot summed up Obama's strategy: "He WANTS a shutdown to get the House back in 2014". Because they know everyone will blame it on Republicans. Gigot said Republicans have forgotten the magic number: 218. And the question was asked of Amash: Are Republicans capable of passing ANYTHING?
And the way they were talking about how the President and the Senate Democrats have the "whip hand" in the budget and debt ceiling issues because of this, they sounded like it was the end of the world.
Just shameful.
And what was worse was that Donna Edwards did not slap Amash down when he spouted all the lies about Obamacare--premiums are going up, access is going away, and all that.
But I guess you can't do that if you want to stay on these shows.
