As I write this, I’m doing the ritual I’ve done 4 times already in the past 2 years. Yup, I got a jab. What’s more, I got a double jab. One arm got the flu shot, the other got the latest COVID vaccine that’s just been released.
So my chills have pretty much subsided. They haven’t been as bad as in the past. The worst part (I think) of the shot. I can start to feel the heat starting to radiate as I slip into the Pfizer Pfever. I usually don’t have high fevers (they’re between 99-101), so let me tell you how a fever affects me.
I get floaty. Yup, I get a little buzz from the fever. I get floaty, I feel kind of detached from my surroundings, and my movements slow down a bit as I get a bit of fever fatigue. As Saturday is my meal prep day for the next week, it means easy cooking. I’m baking off a bunch of chicken thighs. Salt, poultry seasoning, and a bit of pepper. Into a 400 degree oven for an hour or so, until the skin becomes nice and crispy. One thigh is a meal for me, and I’ve got like 14 to bake, so all good in the hood.
So I’m not writing about the post jab effects to whine, but to emphasize that this is necessary and welcomed. Why? Because I don’t want the Rona. And knock wood, I’ve had some scares, but all tests I’ve done have been negative. Or I’ve been that rare asymptomatic person that’s a carrier. Which would indeed be a buzzkill.
And speaking of buzzkill, I got a look at the receipts from Walgreen’s for my shots. Without insurance (my deductible is paid for the year), the flu shot cost $69 (nice). The COVID shot cost $190. I hope that there are ways for the uninsured to get their shots and for those who can’t afford the price to do so as well.
So in conclusion, GET YOUR SHOTS! I still have to do my shingles regimen, that’s coming next. It’s worth all the effects.
So now, as I’m recovering faster than expected from the Pfloaty Pfizer Pfever, on to Tops!
