October 10 is World Mental Health Day.
I suffer from moderate to severe depression. It manifests itself in me through feelings of worthlessness, failure, hopelessness, and the thought that I am nothing but a burden on my family and friends and that everyone would be better off if I never woke up again.
So...yeah.
I am, however taking medication to help cope, and regularly see a therapist. Covered under insurance. Thanks, Obama.
A few years ago I came across a blog entitled “Boggle the Owl”. It’s creator headlines the blog with the following quote:
Boggle is worried about you! Boggle is also an owl.
On her Patreon page, the creator wrote this about Boggle:
Boggle is about giving people someone safe to talk to. My goal, with every comic, is to make the person who wrote in feel like someone really listened to them; and to say something that they might find useful. No cop-outs. No empty words.
I know that sometimes, the difference between life and death is knowing that there's one person out there who cares about you. And this little cartoon owl always does.
I know that sounds silly. But that silliness is part of what makes it work. An owl won't let you down. An owl won't judge you. If an owl says that he loves you, you can trust him.
She hasn’t posted anything on her blog since 2014, but in 2013 she posted a comic that went instantly viral over the internet. A different way of looking at things.
