Because I'm just that loathsome
On a day in which the entire Republican Establishment, plus assorted members of the Clown Car of Crazy are piling on The Donald for his remarks about Senator McCain, there is ONE person who stands out for his response.
Or rather, his lack of one.
Yep, you guessed it, it's Rafael.
While everyone else has been quick to diss the Donald and say basically "his remarks prove he does not have what it takes to be Commander-in-Chief", Rafael "Ted" Cruz chose a shall we say "different" response to the comments:
“Folks in the press love to see [Republican-on-Republican] violence, so you want me to say something bad about Donald Trump or bad about John McCain or bad about anyone else,” Cruz said. “I’m not gonna do it. John McCain is a friend of mine. I respect and admire him and he’s an American hero. And Donald Trump is a friend of mine.”Talk about your Fred Astaire answer. Cruz can't give a straight answer on ANYTHING.
This follows his Standard Operating Procedure of trying to stay "above the fray" but sending out the dog whistles to the Trump voters that he stands by Trump like a bestie.
Because of course, he wants those voters to see him as the Great White Hero and flock to him when Trump collapses.
One wonders if there is anything low enough Trump can say in order for Cruz to denounce and condemn him?
