MSNBC Runs Article, NRA Loses Its Mind

Sigh.

Another day, another NRA fail.

The other day, MSNBC.com had an article up by Krystal Ball and Anne Thompson entitled "How The NRA Is Making The Ebola Crisis Worse".  The thrust of the article was the fact that we have no Surgeon General. From the article:

According to former Surgeon General Regina Benjamin: “The surgeon general is America’s doctor. Delivering information to the American people in a language they can understand. Not having one right now, you don’t have that face and that person that the American people can identify with as their doctor who’s looking out for them on a large scale.”

This role is exactly what prior surgeons general have filled in times of heightened public health anxiety. When faced with the threat of bird-flu for example, the surgeon general at the time, Richard Carmona, talked to the public about prevention, pressured drug makers to ramp up production of effective treatments. He also educated us on risks associated with the disease and kept us updated on its status.

“For well over a century, the American public and the world has come to rely on the unbiased apolitical and scientifically driven information generated by the United States Surgeon General,” Carmona said. “In an era of hyper partisanship and general distrust of government, a highly qualified and experienced Surgeon General is needed now more than ever.”

However, as we all know, President Obama's nominee, Dr. Vivek Murthy, has not been confirmed. His nomination is being blocked by the NRA because Murthy holds the "controversial view that guns can impact your health". So the NRA wrote a "strongly worded letter" to Harry Reid, Rand Paul put a hold on the nomination (but of course he did), and Senate Democrats up for re-election in states like Alaska, Arkansas, and Louisiana begged Reid not to "force them to have to vote". (Damn cowards)

Anyway, because of this article, the NRA lost its mind:

The NRA is now whining that MSNBC blames them for the ebola crisis.

I kid you not.  These paranoid losers are now going around whining that an entire television network is saying that they are responsible for bringing ebola into the US:

In what appears to be an attempt to upstage Louis Farrakhan’s assertion that Ebola is an invented “race-targeting weapon,” MSNBC and gun control organization States United are pointing the finger at NRA for the ongoing public health crisis.  According to their “logic,” NRA’s opposition to Obama’s nomination of anti-gun activist Vivek Murthy as Surgeon General has exacerbated the Ebola crisis, as Americans supposedly have nowhere else to turn for reliable information on the outbreak.
They then spend the rest of the article trying to justify their rabid foaming-at-the-mouth opposition to Dr. Murthy by the usual lies and misquotes and untruths. They conclude with the usual Right Wing Whining and digs at the President:
MSNBC’s and States United’s outlandish comments are simply one more example showing that gun control supporters will use any human tragedy to advance their anti-gun and anti-NRA agenda, no matter how ridiculous and desperate it reveals them to be.  At any rate, if Dr. Murthy really does have the cure for Ebola or anything else useful to say on the matter, we’re pretty sure the president’s adoring press corps would be happy to give him plenty of coverage to air his “expertise.”
