I get so frustrated with the Fiscal Cliff Pundit Kabuki on the TeeVee machine.
Yeah, yeah, I know. What else is new. You have all the pundits and reporters talking about it, and always slanting it so that they put all the onus now on the Senate because the House has passed "something".
And yet, they've danced around a particular issue a LOT without actually bringing it up forthrightly. WE'VE talked about it here a lot, but that's because we're reality based.
They've talked about Boehner's job in a roundabout way, but they haven't talked about it in relationship to this issue in the way it needs to be talked about.
Today, for instance, Luke Russert was talking about how anything that would pass the Senate would need to be passed in the House with mainly Democratic votes. What Luke failed to mention was the political cost of this for Boehner.
And THAT is what people should be talking about.
Because THAT is what is holding up a deal.
Boehner knows that his job is forfeit if he brings up the Senate bill. Boehner knows his job is forfeit if he brings up a bill that can pass the Senate. Because he knows that enough Republicans will vote with the Democrats to pass it and give the President a victory.
And we need ALL of OUR team to be trumpeting this from the rooftops--Boehner's cowardice. How he is so afraid of his caucus that he refuses to save the country. Think about the reactions on the talk shows:
Republicans will be screaming because they know we're right. The media will be pushing back hard, but we have the facts on our side and can press home the attacks constantly. This is our opportunity to drive the narrative.
We will either rally enough support for Boehner to actually govern or rally all the Republicans to overtly and loudly call for the destruction of the country.
It will be a win win for us.
Because if Boenher does lose his job and some Teabagger becomes Speaker, then whatever happens next will be seen as completely the fault of Republicans, driving more people away from them just in time for the 2014 mid term elections.
